When I was blessed to work in Governor and Mrs. David M. Beasley’s administration, I met many notable and newsworthy folk. There was only one, however, whose autograph I sought. The Governor’s photographer, Doug Gilmore, knew of my admiration for Ravi Zacharias and snapped this candid in 1996.
As the Lord would have it, two years later Lee and I would marry and move to Atlanta, Georgia. We joined the same church as Ravi and Margie. In 1999, we’d all be in Orlando, Florida where Ravi eulogized my husband’s former boss and mentor, Robert Fraley. Ravi wrote about Robert in one chapter of his book, “The Grand Weaver: How God Shapes Us through the Events of our Lives.” Read it.
Actually, you’d be bettered reading all of Ravi’s books and listening to his lectures. Hearing his voice has kept me alert while driving many South Carolina backroads and his wisdom has encouraged my walk with Christ.
Ravi once penned: “Beginning well is a momentary thing; finishing well is a lifelong thing.” Thank you, Dr. Zacharias, for showing what finishing strong as a disciple of Jesus Christ looks like. My heart longs to hear from the lips of Jesus what I’m certain you heard today: “Well done, good and faithful servant!” #thankyouRavi #ravizacharias #finishstrong #halloffaith
