In 1982, as a young wife and mother, Jan found herself challenged and energized by the idea that a very ordinary person could become extraordinary. There were no empty promises for quick fixes and no slick gimmicks to produce “something from nothing,” but she had the opportunity to be transformed by the power of God’s Word.Jan Harrison

Having attended church her entire life, knowing the Bible stories through Sunday school, and even studying the Bible as history and literature in high school, the Bible did not seem like a new or unproven avenue of learning. The offer that changed everything was to have a genuine personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She no longer viewed the Bible as stories or examples but began to hear them as God’s voice speaking personally to her. The people, places, life lessons, and directions captured her full attention. The familiar stories of individuals, families, and the challenges they all faced seemed to offer endless opportunities to experience the power of God working and guiding Jan in her own life. It was the beginning of her believing that God is not removed and disconnected, but ever present and fully engaged in the life of His people.

For 31 years, Jan has not been disappointed in the “offer” to know Him personally and to use His word to speak personally to her. She is a Bible teacher and student, but above all, she desires to be a Bible doer. It is her passion to introduce others to the person of Jesus and to teach them to hear His voice spoken through the living Word.

Jan has now been inspiring other women for more than 20 years as a Bible teacher and speaker at women’s conferences and retreats. She served on the leadership committee for Anne Graham Lotz’s Just Give Me Jesus revivals, held in 30 cities, 12 countries, and for hundreds of thousands of attendees. Jan’s challenge to women is to allow God’s Word to change them, and then allow that change to bless others and glorify Him.

Her desire to minister hope to other people continues to flow from her heart. In her debut book, Life After the Storm (Harvest House, April 2015), Jan shares how the unexpected death of her son transformed her life and tested her faith. With courage and compassion, the book offers readers hope and the tools to stop living in fear and experience the transforming faith that only a storm can unveil.

In 2016, she released Becoming a Woman Who Knows God By Name, encouraging women to know the Lord deeply and intimately through studying His names in the Bible. Focusing on ten names of God, Jan walks through their meaning; as well as spiritual and practical ways.

Jan and her husband Frank live in Charlotte, North Carolina, and are active members of their local church, Central Church of God. They are involved in the local and global faith community and are leaders in an international ministry founded by their late son, James F. Harrison IV, WithOpenEyes.net.
